TWO Chinese nationals were charged with two counts each for being in possession of PNG police uniform without lawful exercise or reason last week in Port Moresby. The individuals are Pan Yu, 49 years old from Fujo village in sub Fujian District of China and Lin Yong, 31 years old Fuzing village of Fujian District of China. Both man were charged for wearing and in possession of PNG Police issued uniforms under Section 137 (a) and 138 (a) of the Police Act.
PNG Police Divisional Director Chief Superintendent Robert Ali said both these Chinese nationals own small Chinese shops and run businesses in Papua New Guinea. He said the two Chinese nationals used despoiled members of PNG Police Force to obtain these uniforms for K400 and K500 each and even police file numbers and ID cards were bought with K800.
Despoiled members of PNG Police Force who were engaged in this dilemma were identified, arrested, suspended and charged for the criminal offense incurred. Inspector Steve Magi, Area Commander of NCD/Central Reserve Command and Sergeant Verave Magi Kilai, Second Officer in Charge of NCD/ Central Reserve Command faces two counts of disciplinary charges and charged under the Criminal Code Act with two counts respectively.
The intention of the offenses caused is unknown to the internal police investigations but assumed there could be a hidden agenda that they were trying to legitimate under the police pretext. – Via Garamut News.
